A team of local experts gathered together for a special Heat and Eat Information Day on Friday 24 April in Gardener’s Hall, Dungannon to give specialist advice on healthy eating, budgeting and home safety and security.  The free event was open to young people and older people who receive housing related support from BCM and included advice and support on important topics with speakers from organisations such as Bryson Energy, PSNI and the Mara project.

BCM offers housing support services to young people who need a little extra help maintaining their tenancy and older people who may be isolated and want to keep their independence and remain at home for as long as possible.  After working with both young and older people, BCM staff realised that both groups experienced similar issues and could learn a lot from each other by coming together.  The Information Day is part of a wider project which aims to provide people with the skills to eat healthy home cooked meals and budget for the costs of home heating.
