Supporting those who need it most

Christmas 2014 at BCM

Christmas 2014 at BCM

Christmas 2014 was a great year as we were able to help a lot of individuals and families who were in need.

Thanks to the generosity of churches, schools, local businesses and individuals we have had another successful Christmas at Belfast Central Mission.  This year, we gave 3, 250 children and teenagers a toy parcel or gift and approximately 1, 860 families and senior citizens a food parcel.  All of the individuals and families were extremely grateful for the help they received.

The overwhelming numbers of people volunteering their time, giving donations, toys and food was humbling.

We would like to mention the successfulness of our Giving Tree in Marks and Spencer, Belfast (run jointly with St Vincent De Paul).  This enabled us to gain approximately 450 extra gifts from members of the public for local children, with the gifts being divided equally between SVP and BCM.

We would like to thank organisations such as Cool FM's Cash for Kids, Maurice Flynn and Sons, AXA Insurance, Health and Social Care Board and also The Department of Social Development for their donated gifts. Financial support was also generously given to us by The Ulster Bank Charity Staff Fund, Enkalon Foundation and The Sydney Black Charitable Trust.  Unfortunately we are unable to name everyone who gave so generously to our Christmas Programme, however we want to thank you all for your help!

This year was our 125th Anniversary Christmas Eve Street Collection.  Our team of staff and volunteers contributed their time in order to raise more funds to help those in need.  Although we are still in the process of counting we have a good indication that we have had a good year!
