Supporting those who need it most

Major Renovations

Major Renovations

An elderly couple had been referred to the Housing Support Project.  Their landlord was reluctant to carry out major renovations to their home which still had an outside toilet and no bathroom or central heating.

After much discussion with the tenants and representatives from the building control department of Belfast City Council the landlord reluctantly began the major renovations. The couple moved, with our assistance, to a temporary address and then back to their newly refurbished home 6 months later.

The lady of the house now requires a level access shower to be installed so we have worked with Belfast Trust’s Occupational Therapy department and the plans are being drawn up for the bathroom.

This case study illustrates the type of complex situations through which the staff support their clients.
